The Lobster Boat // The Lobster Boat

Currently on a tour that will take them through Leipzig and Freiburg via a house show in Gieben and ending with another in Marstetten, The Wave Pictures' David Tattersall and Coming Soon's Howard Hughes are documenting the first tour of their The Lobster Boat project.

Tour diaries can be terminally dull affairs, but from the looks of the video below this one will be a touch different, admiring the mundane through soft focus reds and bleak blues (depending on the scene) and accented with songs combining the melancholic indie of Tattersall and folkie groove of Hughes. Follow their regular updates here.

The Wave Pictures // Little Surprise

On the eve eve of its release, here's the first single off the latest Wave Pictures record Beer In The Breakers, released May 2nd.

What it certainly isn't is a surprise, featuring Dave's rolling East Midlands drawl, Alan Bennett observations and kitchen sink witticisms, Jonny's sparse snares and Franic's rumblings all coming together for another classic Wave Pictures offering. Terminally underrated, here's hoping their forthcoming tour and record result in some much deserved adulation in the coming months.

B-Lock and the Girl // Tired of the Sick Hype

It's a rare, rare delight, to stumble across a guitar band of both indie sensibilities AND wanton imagination. The Wave Pictures did it for us, and are still doing so, a couple of years back. Now the North-Easterly trio B-Lock and the Girl are doing it too.

Perhaps it's because each song starts with the never less than thrilling sound of a drum-stick countdown. Perhaps it's because they remind us of Dirk Wears White Socks. It may be because each track they've offered is so restlessly pregnant with ideas it makes us overwhelming excited about music. Either way, they'll be at Notting Hill's Cobden Club in September being Tired of the Sick Hype while creating their own.

Thanks to A New Band a Day for brightening our lives.
