50 albums of 2011 // 10 - 1

At some point in 2011, the release of each of these albums made us not want to listen to anything else, but more so than any other with White Denim's 'D'. Street Joy, Keys, It's Him and every other track are brimming with soul, excitement and hyperactive musicality, and for us at least there was no other option for album of the year in 2011.

tUnE-yArDs - Gangsta

Perhaps my favourite track off my favourite record of the year so far now has a suitably restless video accompaniment. Self directed by Merill Garbus, an artist who clearly knows her own mind and artistic vision, the result is a collage of black and white scenes ranging from ghost story torch shots to free dance to rail-side graffiti. Gangsta.
